P90X Day 86 - Super Fine!

Despite only working out twice last week due to birthday week shenanigans I am still at 221 lbs and feeling lean and strong. People are starting to notice all of my hard work for the last three months and that just motivates me further.

Raegan and I have a fairly busy next few weeks, and with the Vegas countdown now at 22 days I wonder if I can carve off those last 6lbs in time? I have conceded that at least until we're back from our trip that there is very little chance of me doing cardio in the morning before work. Given that I work out at 10 or 11 pm I just don't see it (not that it isn't the dream and eventual end goal for me).

215lbs is a good weight for me to hit Vegas with and if I can get down there in time I know I'll feel better when I'm poolside :)

Tonight is P90X KenpoX + AbRipperX (which is getting easier! It just takes time!). Friday will be P90X Legs and Back and I'll pound out some P90X CardioX + AbRipperX before we take off on Saturday! I've got to bring it for the next three weeks to make it down to 215lbs! I know I can do this!

April 8, 2010 - P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps
April 12, 2010 - P90X PlyometricsX + AbRipperX
April 13, 2010 - P90X Biceps and Back
April 14, 2010 - P90X KenpoX + AbRipperX
April 15, 2010 - P90X CardioX

Day 12: Oh there it is...

I can't be around negative people. Those glass half empty motherfuckers just suck out my will to live. I don't deal with it well, to the point where I completely distance myself from these type of people. Unfortunately my loving wonderful wife will sometimes find herself in this type of mood for days at a time. She's unfortunately the one person I can't remove myself from when they behave this way. I usually just need to roll up my sleeves and drag her back up to normal although I am not always unscathed by the process.

I am getting tremendously excited for our Vegas trip even though it is two months away! It looks like we have a really good crew of people going with us and in the spirit of "more fun is better", the wife and I have booked an extra day to really marinade in that Vegas debauchery. T-minus 76 days to go. Which will consequently put me on day 85 of my first P90X cycle.

I thought about how I would maintain my workout schedule while in Vegas and it really wouldn't be that hard to do so as Planet Hollywood has a great fitness facility I'm told. It will depend of course on what kind of shape I'm in by then. I want to feel good for myself and look good for my wife.

Tonight is Day 1: "Chest and Back". I have everything I need in place downstairs for an awesome workout.

One of the other things I am pondering is ordering some of the P90X "Recovery Drink". I'm not keen on consuming a bunch of carbs and sugar after a workout but if it would help with my next day recovery and overall agony I find myself in from the previous days workout perhaps it is worth considering? I normally have a scoop of protein powder with a little skim milk on the days I weight train and usually nothing but a few liters of water after one of the cardio routines. I've heard Endurex R4 is a good locally available substitute for the P90X Recovery Drink, still on the fence about trying it though.

Day 11: Still alive... strictly speaking...

Had a fine, entirely on target weekend doing all of the good things I should be doing for continued weight-loss and health. Spent Saturday with my lovely wife gathering the last few items to make my home gym experience complete as well as trying a few different types of protein bars from our friendly neighborhood big box store.

Sunday was family brunch a a local restaurant which I anticipate being difficult because I like me some Eggs Benedict, however checked their menu online first and found a nice vegetarian Omelette made with egg whites and grilled veggies. Subtract the cheese, add a little salsa, a bowl of fresh fruit and some green tea and I was in fine form.

I also made the Island Pork Tenderloin for dinner tonight with a little wild rice and some steamed veggies. What an excellent recipe! P90X or not I will definitely be making it again! I also whipped up a batch of P90X butternut squash soup to take with my lunches this week and other than a miscalculation with the hot chili flakes it turned out just fine.

As I missed some of the pure cardio workouts this first week of P90X, I did Kempo X today instead of X Stretch and it turned out to be an excellent 1 hour cardio workout. Strictly speaking I think I am still alive.

I'm pretty bagged but I need to do a little work on the project I'm finaling as this week is the final push to get it into certification and then finally on the shelf!

Day 9: Vegas Planning

Still 241.2 lbs this morning, I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here. I think perhaps more exercise is required to tip me over the weightloss cliff but I can feel like it is about to happen as I've been working out every second day for the first week of P90X and eating on the plan.

I did the arms and shoulder P90X workout on Wednesday to great effect although at the time I wasn't lifting very much weight I still feel it today pretty significantly so for a first attempt at an unfamiliar workout I'm going to call it a win.

Tonight I believe it is legs and back if I'm not mistaken so I expect to take a beating.

We have narrowed down our Vegas debauchery window to April 3 and we'll likely be staying at Planet Hollywood. I had my eye set on the Venitian or Caesar's Palace but I think for the type of unrestrained hedonistic behavior we're going to engage in PH might be a better fit...

Anyone have any recommendations for on-strip Vegas resorts? (I'm actually not sure if I have any readers so this might be a ridiculous question.)

Day 6: Smashed but hopeful

Short post today as my body is smashed like a bowl of eggs. P90X is very hard but effective. I got the home gym set up yesterday and I'm good to go for a little while with the only additions required being a pull-up bar once I graduate to it. The eating plan is entirely reasonable and really similar to the induction phase of the G.I. Diet I was on last year. Just good clean food and portion control.Very well laid out books and high production value DVDs.

I did the chest and back 1 hour P90X workout yesterday and it was extremely intense. I am not just sore but exhausted entirely today. I have another workout do do tonight called "Plyometrics". I'm just going to do my best get through it and then go to sleep. I assume things will get a little easier over the next 90 or so days. They can't get harder.

Current weight 241.8 lbs - no loss since yesterday but I feel strong.

Day 5: The "X" is for Extremely Hard...

A few of the people around the office as well as the odd (really) passerby has recommended a fitness and weightloss program called P90X to me. Every single person I've talked to about it has been happy with the results and managed to keep the weight off, and it doesn't seem like it is just for the overweight either as the personal testimonials come from a variety of sources. On one hand is a guy with a lifetime weight issue working in a sedintary job that has carved away 65lbs with it. On the other is a another guys that runs the "Death Race" yearly and is what you would call an "elite athlete". Both used P90X to drastically change their body shape with great success.

So I bought it, and it looks pretty awesome. This post is likely colored by the hope a new program injects into a fitness effort, the fantasies of health, wellness and beauty just seeminly 90 short days away. Time will tell, but I've thrown myself into this, it's a kamakazi headfirst push to save my life. Ironic I know...

Prior to purchasing P90X Lance and I had a 1.5hr session at the gym and did a full body circuit training program as well as some good high-intensity (for me) cardio work.

I feel slightly better, the snoring is still really bad, however I think the first 20 lbs I peel off will take care of that.

Down to 241.8 lbs today. Small wins but I'll take them.
